Description
Japanese Whisky | 45% ABV
Producer: Mars Yamanashi Winery
Commercial Description:
Situated at 2,600 feet in between the Central and Southern Japanese Alps, Mars Shinshu is Japans highest whisky distillery. Iwai (pronounced like the vowels E-Y), is named after Kiichiro Iwai, one of the grandfathers of Japanese whisky. This whisky is made with majority corn balanced with light malt, aged in ex bourbon barrels. Ideal for daily sipping, or in spirit forward cocktails like old fashioned, boulevardiers, and mint juleps. This spirit is inspired by great whiskies of America. This is the same whisky as the blue label Mars Iwai, just kicked up to 90 proof for that extra boost in your craft cocktail. Great intro to the Japanese whisky category and also perfect for bourbon drinkers.
Mars Iwai 45 is a higher proof version the original spirit, distilled from a high corn mash of 75% corn, and 25% barley aged in ex-Bourbon casks delivering a unique flavor profile with a distinctive bourbon influence.
