This mature dry grown vineyard with substantial plantings of century old vines lies on well draining red-brown chocolaty loams over shale. Yields are minute with very high concentration and seed content.In short, the quality of the fruit is outstanding with incredible sugar/acidity/flavour balance. The Cabernet Malbec is an old fashioned wine, yetitconfidently expresses the distinct character of the vineyard in timeless style. The Malbec componentcomes from four blocks planted between 1898 and 1960, providing complexity and interest.No matter the vintage, each release is aprofoundly individual wine with intense bright fruit, underlying maturation notes and firm but pronounced tannins structures.50/50 Cabernet/Malbec. Cabernet planted 1920 and 1971, Malbec 1898 and 1920. 12 months in hogsheads (20% new).
